What the Lab is
Alok Engineering Lab is a long-term engineering archive rather than a conventional portfolio. Projects record substantial systems. Writing develops technical ideas. Notes preserve durable knowledge. Experiments capture questions and evidence. Timeline records the journey.
Content model
- Projects — substantial engineering systems and case studies.
- Writing — developed technical explanations and arguments.
- Notes — compact ideas, principles and observations.
- Experiments — bounded questions, setups, observations and results.
- Timeline — important engineering milestones and turning points.
- Changelog — meaningful releases and product checkpoints.
Engineering principles
Inspect before modifying. Prefer simple systems. Make decisions explicit. Test reality rather than intention. Keep authority boundaries clear. Treat failures as information. Preserve provenance where trust matters.
Technology
The site uses Astro, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript and content collections, deployed as a static site. The architecture intentionally avoids a database, CMS and paid services.
Maintenance
The content workflow documents the Git-native publishing contract, validation gates and repository-native content scaffolding.
Explore the full archive searches published records across the Lab, while Connections exposes the repository-backed knowledge graph.
The preferred workflow is inspect → implement → verify → review → checkpoint. Current repository state and Git history are stronger sources of truth than old conversations.
