Provenance-Driven Information

Exploring whether source provenance can remain attached as information moves from discovery to delivery.

Engineering provenance

Derived from project work

This knowledge is connected to project records in the Lab, keeping ideas traceable to engineering work.

  • VGU Signal ↗

An independent student-information system that monitors official VGU sources, preserves evidence and delivers verified updates.

Question

Can a student-facing information system keep source trust visible while still making information easy to consume?

Setup

Treat source, evidence, extraction, verification and delivery as separate stages.

A message delivered to a student should remain traceable to the evidence that produced it.

Observation

Separating acquisition from delivery prevents a Telegram message from becoming the source of truth.

It also makes changed or superseded information easier to model instead of silently replacing history.

Result

Provenance is useful as a product feature, not only an internal engineering concern.
