Knowledge Should Show Provenance

A knowledge archive becomes more trustworthy when ideas can point back to the engineering work that produced them.

Engineering provenance

Derived from project work

This knowledge is connected to project records in the Lab, keeping ideas traceable to engineering work.

  • VAJRA ↗

A local-first, model-agnostic autonomous engineering runtime built around durable runs, trusted execution and independent verification.

  • VGU Signal ↗

An independent student-information system that monitors official VGU sources, preserves evidence and delivers verified updates.

A technical note is more useful when a reader can see where the idea came from.

In the Lab, project records are the durable engineering source. Notes, writing and experiments are derived knowledge views. Their related references already connect them to project records, so provenance does not require a second metadata system.

CP11 makes that relationship visible in the knowledge pages themselves. A reader can move from an idea back to the project work that produced or demonstrated it, while project pages continue to expose the knowledge derived from them.

The goal is not to claim that every idea belongs to exactly one project. Some knowledge is cross-project by design. The important boundary is that when a connection exists, the site should make the connection discoverable and trustworthy.

This keeps the knowledge graph bidirectional without adding a database, runtime service or cost.
